Fly Dubai Airline

The airline was founded on 19 March 2008 by Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the chairman of Emirates Airline. Although not being a part of The Emirates Group, flydubai is supported by Emirates during the initial establishing phase. On 14 July of the same year, Flydubai signed a firm order with American aircraft manufacturerBoeing at the Farnborough Air Show over 50 Boeing 737-800s (with a combined value of 4 billion USD), with the option to change the order to the longer range Boeing 737-900ER, according to the airlines demand. Also, a leasing agreement was signed with Babcock & Brown for four more 737-800s, due to be delivered in 2009. The first one of these aircraft was delivered on 17 May 2009. Scheduled flights commenced on 1 June, with a services to Beirut,Lebanon and Amman, Jordan. Since then, the route network has been significantly expanded.
